Per Capital Vehicle Miles Traveled in the USA

A post by Robert Puentes of the Brookings Institution at that organization’s Up Front Blog contains a chart that shows that as of 2010, per capita driving in the United States returned to the level that it was in 2000.  Annual vehicle miles traveled (VMT) per capita was approximately 9,650 annually in 2000.  The annual per capita VMT figure increased to about 10,100 miles in 2005 and moved back to about 9,600 in 2010.
