USA Homeownership Rate Declining

John Burns Real Estate Consulting’s latest electronic newsletter highlights the decline in the homeowership rate in the USA.  You may see the article, which highlights the factors that are pushing homeownership up and those that are pushing it down,  at  http://tinyurl.com/3afwoht

Slightly more than 67 percent of US households owned their residence at the peak of the recent real estate boom.  This  rate has been on the decline for the past several years and the Burns firm believes that 6 million of the 8 million homeonwners currently not paying their mortgage will lose their home by 2012.  If so, this would reduce the homeownership rate to under 62%. as follows.
